If wishes were Fishes...
I created this illustration for the cover of Boneshaker Press's first coloring book - with the theme of Victorian Magicians. This was a really fun piece to do and I even got to try my hand at some graphic design elements like drawing the frame. It was so fun to create this piece I ended up creating a line illustration of it as well for the coloring book (which led to me doing a second coloring page illustration as well.)
The lovely title plate of the book was designed by Cassandra Mazur from Boneshaker Press and the frame and cover design were done by me.
THis is ThE FULL PAINTING I CREATED FOR THE COVER WITHOUT THE GRAPHIC DESIGN ELEMENTS ADDED YET.
This is the coloring book illustration I drew from the painting. I surprised myself with how much I got into drawing the fish and framework - and have intent to do more work like this in the future.
Because I enjoyed the process of creating the first coloring book page so much, I decided to take the opportunity to contribute a second to the book. This illustration, 'The Hatter's Hare' was again, super enjoyable to create. Working on the design of the frame and combining it with the more literal aspects of the drawing was a great puzzle. And it brought back some nostalgia of drawing as a child, which I haven't done in many years. As much as I love painting, I think I should set aside some time to explore more drawings as well!
